How to do I trim the fascia on my vehicle to install a trailer hitch?

This video has a step by step demonstration of how to trim the fascia on your vehicle when you are installing a trailer hitch.

Tools Required:

  • Masking Tape
  • Razor Knife
  • Rotary Tool
  • Marker

"The most difficult part of fascia trimming is the marking of the section of the fascia that needs to be removed. We suggest using masking tape to clearly define the cut lines. This will give you the best visual representation of the area that needs to be removed. Use a razor knife, rotary tool or aviator shears to carefully cut around the tape. Your choice of cutting tool may be dependant on the type of material that you are cutting. A rotary tool is used for cutting heavy duty fascia while a razor knife may be appropriate for thinner material to achieve a nice, clean edge. If you are using a razor knife be sure not to use extensive force. Score the cutting line and make multiple passes to make a nice clean cut. Once your fascia is trimmed, it will conform nicely to your hitch and you can the proceed with your trailer hitch installation."
